Grand Opening!

Ok... ok... I guess it's about time that I finally post something on this sparking new website of mine. You see, it sounded like a good idea. I had off-handedly mentioned the need for webspace a few months back. A place where I could host some old files that needed a home. A place where I can tell people, "Hey, go look at our pictures from that one night at my website."

And then there's the blog.

Everyone's gotta have a blog, right? I mean... what does the world need more than people who don't really deserve to have an opinion about anything let alone the right to make other people read that opinion... what do we need more in our twisted world than a bunch of those people posting their thoughts on the Internet? I've resisted the blogging thing for a while now, refusing to get wrapped up in this sick web of self-important thoughts and views.

But when your mom asks if you have a blog, you have to wonder if you're falling behind in the times.

So, I present to you "Out of the Blue"... hehehe... see, it's clever cause my last name is Blue... and the views are coming "Out of the." Get it? I went through several other possible titles, including the one that you see in that little URL bar at the top of your screen.

That was supposed to be funny. Ever since the film classic Old School graced movie screens worldwide and delivered unto us the greatest saying to ever hit my world... "You're my boy, Blue!" I've heard it. I've heard it in bars... in stores... in any place where my ID gets flashed. I've heard it on a plane... heard it on a train... heard it on a bus... heard it with much fuss. I've even heard it at a Christmas tree farm.

You're my boy, Blue.

The cry of the 18-35 year old who says, "I bet he's never heard this one before." Yes, yes I have. It's funny to them. I smile and nod because they found it to be witty. I even smile and nod because part of me enjoys the attention... I'm an attention whore... sue me.

You're my boy, Blue!

You must add the exclamation... usually with an effort to sound like a drunken Will Farrell that falls flat. But I appreciate the effort... I truly do. What better way to immortalize the saying that people always exclaim, "No one _really_ ever says that to you, do they?" which is always followed by great amusement when they hear someone do it for the first time.

YOU'RE MY BOOOOOY, BLUUUUUUE!

People I've known for ten seconds will do it. People I've known for twenty-five years will do it. Everyone loves it. God bless Vince Vaughn and Will Farrell... and that Wilson brother that I can never identify correctly.

YOU'RE MY BOOOOOOOOOOY, BLUUUUUUUUUE!

Occasionally accompanied by a raucous high-five or a maniacal giggle or a warm embrace.

You're my boy, Blue.

It was supposed to be funny.

Then, Patrick Cranshaw, the actor who played the geriatric Blue in the movie... died.

What the fuck?

What kind of cruel fucking world is this? On the eve of me unveiling my new website that is named to pay tribute to him, he dies?

Fuck.

I mean... seriously. Fuck.

This blows.

But dammit, we will endure! Patrick Cranshaw, as long as this site stays open... as long as I come here on a [quasi] daily basis to tell the world stuff that they don't care about and that I know nothing about... as long as I have a useless opinion left to spew...

As long as Vince Vaughn effortlessly lights up the silver screen [and my heart] with his every word...

As long as Will Farrell reminds us of the days when SNL was funny...

As long as that Wilson guy reminds of us when he was the star of Armageddon...

As long as- huh? Wrong Wilson brother? Fuck!

You're my boy, Blue. And we loved you for it.

Rest in peace.
