I really don't get it.
With an entertainment industry still trying to recover from the last labor dispute to hit it and with a global economy in tatters sending disposable income through the floor, how can anyone think it's a good time to strike again?
Sure, it's not a one-sided street and it could just be trying to establish leverage but if the situation actually devolves to that point, you have to figure there's something inherently wrong with the industry as a whole. Like people don't have a negative enough view about the spoiled, pampered celebrities who can't relate to the masses... let's go on strike and make everyone realize just how out of touch they are.
Of course, they've positioned this announcement right before awards season in hopes that someone will cave so that they don't lose the Oscars, the Golden Globes, and all the rest. It's just really ridiculous.
As someone who stuck with TV even after the Strike shortened seasons and has even lost shows I really liked almost directly because of the Strike [Daisies anyone?], I just can't imagine going through all that again. When does the line finally get crossed? Will the industry finally shoot themselves in the foot by being so completely blind and apathetic towards the fans that make them relevant?
Sadly, signs point to them doing whatever they want and us coming back time after time to take it.
